Image Cache

If you are concerned about image load times, I spent a lot of time refining the caching of images even the Flickr images.

Styling Options

There is a Dark (default) and light version, You can view the Light version by selecting it under the “Skin” tag located in the header menu

404 ( Not Found Page )

If you haven’t yet seen the “Amazing” (at least I think so ) 404 ( not found ) page then have a look right away. You can upload your own background Image and included in the theme is the .PSD files to custom your text.

Header & Body Fonts

Theme authors boast that they have 200+ Google fonts available … well that might be true but in reality there are only a couple of combinations that really do work.

Included is 8 web safe fonts as well as 20 Google Fonts. I’ve based included font list on this excellent post designshack.net – Font Combinations.

** Alternatively use any Google Font. I guess this additional option makes this a 200++ Google Font theme .

I’m thrilled to say that months later Marco is still pleased with his designs functionality.

Andrew Hemphill contacted me with a request to write a custom script, they needed a script so that there clients can add update and view all the social media stats at a glance.

This script needed to update all accounts daily, all of 300+ . I created a custom database, used crons & deamons to keep the data up to date and did I mention this all had to fit into the current WordPress install. “No Problem I Said” …

Kees also asked for a look & feel that was light and minimalistic, even though it is a photographic site he did not want to over use image galleries.

This project was kinda fun to work on as this is not your “normal” WordPress install and go … There was quite a bit of custom coding but in the end the functionality worked just fine for Norman

Otto loads several posts weekly which means this would also be a high traffic volume blog.

As with most of my clients they want to be in control of the content. I don’t always agree with this as it takes good planning to have a visually pleasing and functional site.

With Simplu I package most of the functions available on a couple of pages for a prospective client to explore. Here they can also see how shortcodes are placed and utilized. I don’t expect a visitor to fully understand what shortcodes are but at least they get the general idea that content placement need not be limited or boring.

The Simplu is visually minimalistic, If I design a site for you I would obviously incorporate your design needs from a functional & visual aspect. Several of the sites in this portfolio collection make use of “Simplu’s” functionality but they each have there clients distinct design requirements incorporated.

The challenge was to meet the strict aesthetic requirements. You can view the original mock-up sent to me by TheUnleashed.tv >> Original Mock-Up << . I think you would agree that the final live site is pretty much in line with what they set out to achieve …

Needless to say another satisfied client.

I’m not sure what clinched the deal , it might have something to do that I took there initial functionality specification and basically through it out the window … It’s my experience that we as designers or coders often know whats best for a client or how best to achieve the final set objective.

This site might have been the first coding I did for them but it certainly was not the last.

After a couple of months she was confident in her ability and she quickly outgrew the initial site. Again I had the freedom to create what I saw fit. Kerry suggested she create the logo and insisted on the small animal relief above the footer and I must say it does work wonders on her site to create the right atmosphere.

I suppose it comes as no surprise that in the last couple of months I have received several design requests with clients using Kerry’s site as reference. I’m convinced it has nothing to do with my design skills and its all down to Kerry’s photographic skills.
